REGARDING VINTAGE COLLINGROVE

from BOB CONGDON

Collingrove 2009
It’s
on
again!

This year Vintage Collingrove will be
conducted again as a two-day event
commencing on Sunday 4th October with the
usual “Vintage Tour” and Monday 5th
October for the “Collingrove Hillclimb”.
These dates have been chosen to allow
participants and spectators to enjoy both
Vintage Collingrove and the Lobethal Grand
Carnival on 3rd and 4th October 2009.
This year the much enjoyed vintage tour will
take drivers over a new and interesting
journey arriving in the Lobethal area in time
to watch the first of the driving sessions
around the Grand Prix circuit. A catered
lunch will be provided. Cars will return to the
Barossa Valley where a combined dinner at
a well known winery will be held.
Participants in the Lobethal Grand Carnival
are invited to join competitors in the “thrill of
the hill” on Monday 5th October at the clubʼs
picturesque Collingrove Hillclimb site.

A LETTER TO OUR SECRETARY, ARTHUR RUEDIGER FROM TONY PARKINSON, LOBETHAL GRAND CARNIVAL COORDINATOR

Dear Arthur,

We wish to extend an invitation to the owners of all appropriate MG models (genuine Lobethal, pre-1948 and pre-1962) to join us for the 2009 Lobethal Grand Carnival.

We wish to confirm that it will be held on the long weekend in October - from Friday 2nd (bump-in). Lobethal will occupy Saturday and Sunday (3-4) and as a bonus,
Vintage Collingrove will occur primarily on Monday 5th. And as such, Lobethal/Colingrove will fall between Bay to Birdwood (September 27) and Bathurst (October 10-11).

In light of Allan Tomlinson's famous 1939 AGP victory, MG along with Alfa Romeo, will be featured car marques and we have every expectation that Allan, our event Patron, will be able to make the trip
from New York to be with us.

It would help immensely if this invitation may be extended to members of the SA Club and in turn passed via your network to the MG fraternity globally.

Lobethal will be capped to 100 cars and 50 bikes and as such, we have now uploaded the 2009 ENTRY APPLICATION to the event website - www.lobethalgrandcarnival.com.au - 2009 ENTRY.

Entries may be applied for until January 30th 2009 after which we advise a final list. We have taken this approach to cover the eventuality of an over-subscription and to allow maximum time to deliver the best event possible.

I'm aware that Phil Bradey is writing a piece for your newsletter and Ed Ordynski is a member of our team, so we can expect healthy dialogue between us as things unfold for what we believe will be an outstanding event
in 2009.

Let me know if you need any further information at this stage. Our website is being progressively updated and we expect soon to have completed the 2008 Lobethal DVD.

Kind regards,

Tony

BOB CONGDON REGARDING VINTAGE COLLINGROVE

Just a note to expand on Tony’s message as it relates to VINTAGE COLLINGROVE 2009.

Vintage Collingrove 2009 will again follow the very successful two day format which has evolved over the past six years. The organizing committees of both Vintage Collingrove 2009 and the Lobethal Grand Carnival 2009 are working together to ensure that the meetings and supporting social activities are coordinated and integrated to maximize the benefits and opportunities for competitors and spectators.

Vintage Collingrove 2009 will be structured as follows.

Sunday 4th. October
Barossa Tour – To be conducted on the morning of Sunday 4th. ( not Saturday as in the past).  The tour course will run  to  Lobethal from the Barossa Valley on Sunday 4th and will take the form of a police escorted parade of vintage
cars driving from the Peter Lehmann Winery via Tanunda, Lyndoch, Williamstown,
and Kersbrook  to Lobethal
and arrive prior to the commencement of activities at Lobethal (which are scheduled to start at 1.00pm.)

Vintage Dinner- A combined dinner in the Barossa Valley for participants, partners and followers of both Vintage Collingrove and Lobethal. It is envisaged that
transport will be provided between Lobethal and the dinner venue for those staying in Lobethal.

Monday 5th. October
Vintage Hillclimb-at Collingrove Hillclimb to be conducted on Monday the 5th. with the usual classes offering opportunities for competitors in “come and run”, vintage sports and touring
                            and historic racing classes.
Spectators are most welcome ($5 per adult or $10 per car).

Monday Sunday 4th. & Monday 5th. October

Partners Program- The very successful and enthusiastically received Partners Program of visits to country houses and places of interest will be  conducted again
visiting new venues in an expanded format and offering opportunity for partners to renew friendships and meet newcomers to Vintage
                              Collingrove.

Further details will be released in February 2009.

Best regards
