NATIONAL MEETING 2009

THOUGHTS BY MIKE GREENWOOD

There is something special about being a part of a group representing your club at National level.
A very enthusiastic group of 41 South Australian MG Car Club members headed over the boarder prior to Easter for this year’s National Meeting.
Some drove and some trailer’d their pride and joy!
These included 2 pre-war MG’s with the Bahnisch’s F Type & the Bazzica’s J2; one TC (driven there) and one TC Special; 2 Y Types one Saloon and one Tourer( both driven there); one MGA Twin-cam; one MG 1100 FWD; three MGB GT’s; 2 MGB GT V8’s; three MGB Roadsters and one MGB V8; one MGC Roadster driven over and one MGC GT driven down from NSW; two R V8’s and one MGF and one MG ZT Saloon. A total of 23 MG’s
Some took two days to get there others did the 715 Kms in the one day some 9 and a quarter hours driving at a steady pace so as not to gain the wrath of Constable Biro between Kaniva and Horsham.

Dinner at the Horsham RSL.

A number of us stopped in Horsham and then drove to Geelong the next day, a very easy drive.
A lot of us took our GPS’s; this takes a lot of the stress out of getting to the Motel or Caravan Parks plus to the various venues - much easier!
It was a bit of a concern that we were not all accommodated at the same place once we got to Geelong this tended to fracture the bonding process, however with the liberal use of our mobile phones we coordinated the whole group for all the social events, we tried to enter as a group, this gives a greater impact.

The Green Shirts stood out!

Talking of “bonding” our special one off “Green Shirts” were a real hit! So easily recognised! To the point that whenever seen people said oh! There goes another South Aussie! Now everyone wants one!!!!
I will leave others to continue with other reports written in haste in order to get this to you.
