MG F/Z REGISTER REPORT
MGF’S & Z’S TWILIGHT RUN
ON SATURDAY 5TH FEBRUARY 2011
On the 5th February 2011 we are going on a twilight run to Normanville. It will be a simple run and you must bring your own food or buy fish & chips from the Food Caravan.
It would be wonderful if members with the above cars do the run. I have heard that there are some members with racing MGF who also have road MGF’s
We will meet at the Big W car park off Cross Rd & Goodwood Roads opposite the Shell garage at 4pm for a 4.30pm start. This is open to all club members and is not a race, just get there at your own pace.

“MODERNS” to MANNUM
From.. Barry Burne. |
MGF,MGF TF,ZR,ZS & ZT
We had a very successful run across the Murray River. The weather was initially typically winter with cold and rain. After we left Mt Pleasant the rain stopped which enabled some to have an enjoyable lunch next to the river at Mannum whilst others had lunch at the hotel. After this some members went on to the motorkhana.
It was great to have some Bs, RV8s and an MGA coupe on the run. The two pit stops made it easier for all the cars to keep together

The rain on Saturday night had gone and Sunday morning was clear and sunny, so many had their tops down.
Wind overnight had bought down some small bits from trees, but nothing to cause concern.
The first leg to Williamstown seemed to take no time at all, the coffee break seemed to take every bit as long.
Williamstown to Springton to Eden Valley to Keyneton is quite picturesque country. Then from the top of Sedan Hill the paddocks of barley, wheat or grazing make a chequerboard of colours in the sunshine.
The wide expanse of windows in the Swan Reach Hotels dining room coupled with the strong wind gave an interesting impression that the river was going backwards.
It was good to see Wayne Dowding and Maureen Pullman from Goolwa, Bevan and Jill Clifford from Loxton and Leon and Faye Rosenweig from Winke (Berri)
I acknowledge the help of Garry Chapman and Steve Bowra in checking the route.

MGF & Z’S FEBRUARY 2009 REPORT
The twilight run to Normanville went off well. Although it was a very hot day the temperature dropped rapidly by 5 o clock. By the time we reached McLaren Vale it was cool enough to turn off the air conditioners and drop the hoods.
At Normanville beach it was cool and to our delight the snack caravan was there and they continue to produce good fish and chips. At the end of the evening they kindly donated a donut to everyone.
The following people attended the run.
Barry and Deidre Burne
Harry Dickson
Mike Greenwood and Jan Dinan
Graham Menz
Bruce McLean and Kath Parletta
Brian Coulson
Joe and Mari Polo
David and Leonie Hartshorne
Philip Readhead
Neil and Lyn Stagg
Our next run will be crossing the Murray on the 3rd May which starts at Mt Barker then down to Wellington Ferry and up to Walker Flats. We will stop at Mannum for a BYO lunch.
As usual this is open to all members. |
MGF August 2008 Lunch Run
The lunch run to Oliver’s Taranga Vineyard was very successful. All those who came seemed to enjoy the wine and the pizzas
Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us in the morning and I think this put a lot of people off coming. We had 17 cars and 36 people start the run and they were as below.

MGF run on the 18th May 2008 On behalf of all those who did the run a great thanks to Bruce Mclean and Neil Stagg. After the heavy rains on Friday and Saturday we were fortunate to only have a few very light showers on Sunday morning.
The movie was an amusing step down memory lane and the lunch at the Blyth Hotel was very good and well organized. Some excellent photos were taken of the MGs parked outside the hotel and there were write ups in the Blyth and Clare local papers. Copies are in the club.
The lunch run on the 31st August to Oliver’s Taranga Vineyards for wood oven pizza lunch. This will start at the Cross Rd Bowl Centre on the corner of Cross Rd and Goodwood Rd. We will meet at 10am for a 10.30 departure.
This is open to all members - will you please contact Barry on 83321239 or 0409888577 to let me know if you will be attending.
Sunday 18th May
The Blyth or Bust Run incorporating a movie at the beautifully refurbished Blyth Cinema. Then onto the Blyth Hotel for lunch. A great day out!
MGF/TF/Z UPDATE
From... Barry Burne
A warning to MGF members that a major problem can arise if the release cable for the front bonnet breaks. The bonnet is virtually impossible to open.
Graham Menze and I have developed a very simple way to solve the problem. A full report of how to add this feature will be coming soon.
On the 31st August we are planning a lunch run to Oliver’s Taranga Vineyards in Mclaren Vale. This is open to all MG members and I will release more details in the July report
Doug Marshall provided this info on the next generation of MG Sports Cars from their Chinese owners, the article is reported on the Auto Express website and outlines some of the specifications and designs to be produced at Longbridge in the UK purported to be on sale around 2010..check out this web site….
