MINUTES OF THE MONTHLY GENERAL MEETING
HELD TUESDAY 8 APRIL 2008
OPENING: Chairman Fred Neild opened the meeting with 75 in attendance, and welcomed all present. Fred then spoke about preparations needing to be actioned for the Club to stage a successful 2010 National Meeting.
APOLOGIES: Arthur Ruediger, Berry Treffers, Tim Edmonds, David Pearson, Joy Pearson.
VISITORS: Fred welcomed Keith & Hilary Medland, Chairman & Secretary of the Tamar Valley MG Owners Club, Plymouth, England.
MINUTES FROM THE PREVIOUS MEETING: (Wayne) The minutes were presented & moved for acceptance by Wayne Hough, seconded by Ian Denny and carried.

TREASURER’S REPORT: (Barry)
Receipts for March 2008 $11,735 (incl subs of $ 7518, regalia sales $1343 and bar $512.
Payments for March $11,000 approx.

Treasurer’s report moved for acceptance by Barry Softely, seconded David Holmes and carried.
PRESIDENT’S COMMITTEE REPORT:
Fred reported on the following Committee activities:
. Web site review, Geelong Club given as an example
. Nat Meeting 2010, volunteers required, names to be put on whiteboard
. Border Run, invitation to join Melbourne Club in Coonawarra.
. MG Clubs, should liaise to form a large consumer group
NEW MEMBERS: 9 new members for March 2008. None were present.
Current Membership: 899 Financial, 57 Un-financial
REPORTS FROM VARIOUS ACTIVITIES OF THE CLUB
CLARE REGISTER: (Rod Byrne)
Rod spoke of the need to engage with our country members. To this end he and Barry are going to attempt to form a Clare Register. Visiting on 23 April and city members invited attend a BBQ. On 18 May, will be an advertised info meeting at the Clare Motel. Riverland will be next and then the South-East.
CAMS REPORT: (Ian Curwen-Walker)
Ian briefed the meeting about proposed changes to the Board of Management of CAMS. Not supported by smaller States.
NATIONAL MEETING REPORT: (Mike Greenwood)
Mike gave a briefing on the 2008 Nat Meeting. He will be coordinating the 2009 Nat Meet in Geelong and gave preliminary report on events and accommodation.
SHOW & SHINE: (Mike Greenwood)
Points raised in the briefing included notification of a Friday meeting for volunteers, aspects relating to judging on the day and a general run down on the format of the day.
President Fred thanked Mike for his efforts on behalf of the Committee and the Club.
MOTOR-SPORT: (Bev Waters & John Kemp)
Bev asked that members check if they still wished to be on the Motor-Sport e-mail. She noted the following events: 13 April – sprint event, 20 April – a Motorkhana, 1 June – a 6hr relay and 7-9 June The MG Challenge.
John Kemp spoke about the June long-weekend MG Challenge. He stressed the need for volunteers to help with running of the events. President Fred also made a point of the need for Club members to support such an important event.
BREAKFAST RUNS: (Peter Coulson)
Peter reported on the Maslin’s Beach run. He noted that the April run is to Mt Barker and the May run, organised by the MGB Register is to Oaklands Park.
He also asked for any feedback from those members attending such events.
KYMG: (Leyland George)
Next KYMG night is at Tuff Stuff, 4X4 business on Main North Road. The May meeting is at Road&Track, a dyno business. Leyland also asked members to forward their email addresses so he can better inform as to dates, places etc.

Next meeting on 24 April at the Port Adelaide Sailing Club
T REGISTER: (Ian Curwen-Walker)
Ian reported on the meeting at the Griffin’s, 45 attended. Next meeting at Barry Bahnisch’s house.
PARADES & DISPLAYS: (Jeff Jeans)
8 cars registered to attend Vintage & Classic day at McLaren Vale
A Show&Shine to be held at Jamestown on 6 Oct 2008.
MAGAZINE EDITOR: (Laurie Houghton)
Laurie noted that a small number of Club members will be going to Melbourne to attend the 50th anniversary of the Victoria MG Car Club.
REGALIA: (Cherie Chapman)
Cherie displayed the latest range of attire and announced a sale of surplus stock.
MID-WEEK LUNCH RUN: (Dianne Holmes)
The run on 10 April will be to the Mt Barker Golf Club. The May run to be organised by Geraldine Hough.
BAR MANAGER: (Peter Both)
Friday 25 April, ANZAC Day, the Club will be closed. Peter announced the price rise over the Bar, most rose by 50 cents.
GENERAL BUSINESS:
President Fred informed the Club that he would be going to the Coonawarra to meet with the Victoria Clubs on their Border Run. He extended an invitation to other interested members.
Mike Greenwood requested that reports which were for inclusion on the web site should be in colour.
Fred informed members that a post card had been received from Arthur.
A special presentation was made to the overseas visitors, Hilary & Keith Medland.
