NEWS FROM OVERSEAS
I have just received the latest issue of “Safety Fast” – together with the latest issue of the “MG Enthusiast”. Unfortunately, due to a “hiccup” at Abingdon concerning my renewal of my Membership with the MG Car Club in the UK, these are the first that I have seen for some months. There is a fairly detailed coverage of the cars to be manufactured in Nanjing and by NAC (UK) Ltd in the “MG Enthusiast” which is very heartening. “Pressed panels, engines and other components will be produced in China and shipped to Longbridge for welding, painting and final assembly. Just 15,000 cars a year are expected to be produced initially, and that figure is for all MG models, not just TFs. There is quite a detailed explanation of the car models to be produced. There is another article “First Drive of the MG7”, (a version of the MG ZT), which is most informative. THE MG ENTHUSIAST During the past 18 months, membership of the (UK) MG Car Club saw subscription to the “MG Enthusiast” included with the subs to the Club, - so that every month we received a package including both the “MG Enthusiast” and “Safety The joint publications of “Safety Fast” and the “MG Enthusiast” were arranged so that “Safety Fast” covered all the Club activities, and technical articles and other MG items were covered by the “MG Enthusiast”. It is not clear whether this division of MG coverage will continue, or whether “Safety Fast” will begin again to include technical articles and other things MG, as they did before their association with the “MG Enthusiast”. The subscription application for the “MG Enthusiast” will be available at the Clubrooms. Ian Curwen-Walker
